Ingredients

1

package (12 oz) applewood smoked bacon, halved crosswise

1

can (16.3 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Southern Homestyle Buttermilk Biscuits (8 Count)

2

lb ground beef (at least 85% lean)

8

oz bulk pork sausage

8

slices cheddar cheese

1/4

cup Carolina-style gold barbecue sauce

2

avocados, pitted, peeled and sliced

2

cups spring mix lettuce

Preparation

Spray 12-inch cast-iron or stainless steel skillet with cooking spray; place on grill. Heat gas grill to 400°F. Add bacon to skillet. Cook 12 to 18 minutes or until crispy, turning once. Transfer bacon to paper-towel lined plate to drain. Pour out bacon drippings, leaving 2 tablespoons of drippings in skillet.

Meanwhile, separate dough into 8 biscuits; place biscuits in drippings in skillet. Turn off right side of grill; increase left side of grill to maintain 400°F. Place skillet with biscuits on right side of grill, keeping biscuits on indirect heat, 18 to 22 minutes, turning once, until both sides are golden brown.

In large bowl, mix beef and sausage. Shape into 8 patties (about 5 oz each), and place on plate.

Place patties on left side of grill side for direct heat cooking. Cook patties 4 to 6 minutes on each side or until they reach internal temperature of 165°F. Transfer to platter, and top each patty with slice of cheese. Cover to keep warm.

Halve biscuits; spread bottom of each biscuit with 1 1/2 teaspoons barbecue sauce, top with 1 patty, one-fourth of an avocado, about 3 pieces bacon and 1/4 cup mixed greens. Top with biscuit tops.
