Ingredients
2 1/3 c all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 t ground ginger
1/2 t ground cloves
1/2 t salt
2 t baking soda
3/4 c unsalted butter, room temp.
1 c sugar
1 egg
1/3 c molasses
Cinnamon Sugar:
1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 t cinnamon
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375°. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets. Combine dry ingredients in one bowl; in another cream butter and sugar. Add egg and molasses to creamed mixture; slowly add flour mixture. Measure rounded teaspoons for each cookie, roll dough into balls, then roll each in cinnamon sugar. Bake 10-12 minutes or until cookies are golden and crisp. For bigger cookies, use a rounded tablespoon, wet bottom of glass and smoosh on cookie sheet.
Extras to add: dried cherries or cranberries, nuts, dark chocolate chips.
