Ingredients
Dumplings: 1 1/2c all purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tsp shortening or 1/2 tsp vegetable oil, 3/4c milk.
Chicken: 1 lb chicken, garlic powder, and 3 cans chicken broth.
Preparation
Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and shortening in a large mixing bowl. Slowly add milk paying close attention to how firm the dough is. Dough should be firm enough to roll. Roll dough out to 1 cm thickness and cut into rectangular pieces. Use sheets or paper towels or a clean rag to seperate the pieces (the point is to dry the dough out so that it can maintain its shape in the broth). In a large skillet cobine 1/2 can of chicken broth, chicken breasts, and garlic powder. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. In a large pot bring remaining broth to a boil. Add chicken breasts and remaining broth to the pot. Once boiling again, slowly add dumplings. Let boil for 10 minutes on high, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
